New Brighton Passport Office

As an Acceptance Facility offering passport services we are open by appointment Monday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 1 pm. Although an appointment is recommended we do accept walk-ins upon availability. Those who simply need a photo such as for a DS-82 Passport Renewal are welcome to walk in. 

Routine processing can take 6-8 weeks. Expedited processing is an additional $60 and can take 2-3 weeks.

Passport

A passport is a document, issued by the federal government, which certifies the identity and nationality of the passport holder. A passport has two forms:

Passport Book - can be used for all air, land and sea travel.

Passport Card - can be used to travel to and return from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border crossing or sea ports-of-entry. The Passport card can also be used to board aircraft for domestic travel, but cannot be used for international air travel.

To apply for a passport book or card, all applicants must schedule an appointment and apply in person at an authorized Passport Acceptance Facility; however, there are also special requirements for minor applicants age 15 and younger.

·         Passport Photos: Printed photos and digital photos available!

Fees: Please note, all passport fees are non-refundable.

·         U.S. Department of State fee: Check or money order only. Credit/debit cards not accepted. Stamps, universal and starter checks not accepted.

o   A separate check is required for each application

·         City of New Brighton fee: Check, money order, cash or a Credit/debit cards accepted with a 2.15% fee.  

o   All returned checks payable to the City of New Brighton are subject to a $30.00 charge. 

Photos: Printed and Digital Photos Available!

Passport photos must meet US Department of State Requirements and can be taken at the City of New Brighton Passport Office. Currently, we offer printed passport photos, however, we now offer digital passport photos as well! No appointments required for photo-only requests. Passport photos can have other uses such as for visas, immigration documents, ID cards, International driver’s licenses, resumes, applications, security badges, press releases and advertisements.

Passport Renewal Application

For applicants eligible to renew by mail you must be able to answer "yes" to all the questions on the DS-82 Passport Renewal Application. Then, fill out the form and follow the directions as instructed to mail in your application.
